IAI - Israel Aerospace Industries

IAI was looking for an electric motor testing system that would be used to test the different electric hardware applications and motors at laboratory, simulating the conditions they will have in final application.
IAI applications include: electric airplanes and drones, electric vehicles, robots, etc.
All applications include unique, lite weight motors and controllers with high torque and speed.
IAI’s laboratory system includes the capabilities of testing motors from 1 kW up to 140 kW, with their hardware. The system has the option for future upgrade to test motors of up to 300 kW.

EMERSON

Emerson was looking for an electric compressor testing system that would be used to test the different inverters & compressors designed and manufactured at Emerson plants under dynamic and static conditions. The testing should be done to check the units in dynamic and static ways.
In addition, Emerson required a housing solution for the testing.
Testing the compressor performance can be done in two ways: statically or dynamically.
In both cases, in order to get the data of the compressor output torque, it is necessary to use one of the following two options:
Testing an open compressor, in a vertical set-up.
Building a special housing for the compressor stator and rotor, creating a “Housing Motor,” and testing the output performance of the “housing motor.”
Compressor manufacturers and driver manufacturers are both interested in the static and dynamic performances of the compressor.

Varroc Engineering

Varroc’s systems enable the mapping of performance parameters of their EV traction motors, types: (1) Hybrid Synchronous AC and Asynchronous AC Induction motors; (2) Synchronous BLDC and PMSM; and (3) ISG motors.
In addition, the systems could also (4) test the EV Traction Motor integrated with gearbox, i.e. having two O/P’s (similar to a Transaxle); and (5) are suitable for evaluating Hub Motors.
The systems were designed for evaluating multiple types and multiple manufacturers’ motors, with ranges of up to 25 kW, of up to 80 V, and max speeds of up to 15000 rpm.
The systems included Battery Simulation, with battery cycle testing (charge/discharge), battery SOC (State Of Charge) script and SOD (State Of Discharge) script, during advanced battery simulation and simple battery simulation, drive cycle testing (real-time simulation of scooter/driver, with acceleration, brake, change of vehicle states); and Battery Testing.
All advanced requested Motors Under Test are driven by their respective controller, with different types of communication protocols (CAN, LIN, A/D, FlexRay, Speedgoat, Modbus, etc.)

Dunkermotoren-Ametek Germany

INERTIAL DYNAMOMETER ( IDS) enables: Complete load performance testing (Torque, Speed, Current, Efficiency, Power Input, Power Output), all without loading the motor with any mechanical load. Standard electrical parameters testing, such as HV, Vibration, Noise, etc. Additional testing: Cogging, Back EMF, Friction, Ripple Torque.

Leading Chinese EV & Electric Appliances Manufacturer

The Customer was needing testing systems that would enable the option to test high-speed, high-torque electric vehicle (EV) motors, in their laboratory applications. The Customer faced some unique challenges, due to their unique motor applications, such as: high power densities, high speed ranges, high torque ranges, robustness, and more. Motomea's solution for this special requirement is the Motomea Electric Vehicle and Traction Motor Test Bed. This product enables testing EV motors of a maximum power of 200 kW at 24,000 rpm, and a power of 100 kW at maximum speed of 36,000 rpm. This solution covers the testing requirements, while minimizes testing time up to 40%, and also enables dynamic solutions to the Customer.

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj’s systems enable the mapping of performance parameters of their EV traction motors, types: (1) Hybrid Synchronous AC and Asynchronous AC Induction motors; (2) Synchronous BLDC and PMSM; and (3) ISG motors.

SII - Standards Institution of Israel

The Standards Institution of Israel (SII) was looking for a testing system that would enable the option of fully automatic testing for 7.5-185 kW squirrel cage electric motors, for their Efficient Energy Laboratory. In addition, SII needed the test bench to apply the “Summation of losses, with load test method according to IEC 60034-2-1 requirements.” The ideal solution for the complicated demand could be done via the MEA RDS (Regenerative Dynamometer System) 185 Test bench. With MEA’s RDS 185 Test bench, SII has the ability to run verification tests of the efficiency level of IE2-marked-electric-motors, in accordance with IEC 60034-2-30 requirements.
